Role Summary: The Technical Director at Oxford Presbyterian Church is the lead AV Technician, content producer, and online media manager responsible for executing predefined plans and generating new content ideas to create a professional worship experience. Reporting to the Pastor and working closely with the Worship Committee and Office, this role demands a blend of technical expertise and creative flair to meet the congregation's needs and engage the wider community. The ideal candidate will initially focus on executing predefined plans but is expected to increasingly contribute original ideas over time.

Duties:

  • Technical Leadership: Act as the technical director during worship services, adjusting audio levels, managing visual content transitions, and ensuring a seamless worship experience. Work with volunteers to divide workflow and manage the system.
  • Content Creation: Prepare slides, worship templates, and video content, incorporating input from the office staff, church leaders, and the pastor while adhering to set deadlines and maintaining clear communication.
  • Analytics and Feedback: Track social media and video views analytics, with a potential to include website traffic monitoring, adjusting strategies based on performance data.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Maintain AV equipment, ensure software is up to date, and address any technical issues, ensuring the congregation experiences minimal disruption.
  • Training: Responsibility for training volunteers or staff on AV equipment and software.

Requirements:

  • Technical Skills: 1-5 years’ experience in audio mixing, video switching, and familiarity with Windows OS, OBS Studio, ProPresenter, or similar software. A clear ability to learn and adapt is more critical than the length of experience.
  • Soft Skills: Strong capabilities in communication, teamwork, problem-solving, root-cause analysis, and actively soliciting questions to ensure clarity and understanding.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds over short distances.
  • Availability: Must be available for weekend, holiday, and evening hours as required by church events.
  • Education: High School Diploma (or GED) required; Bachelor’s in Communication, Media, Audio Production, or similar fields preferred.
  • Background Checks: Oxford Presbyterian Church requires that the candidate pass one or more background checks in order to qualify for this position.
