The Interim Pastor provides spiritual leadership, pastoral care, and administrative oversight to Christ Our King Presbyterian Church during this period of pastoral transition. In addition to regular pastoral duties, the Interim Pastor will guide the Session and congregation through the intentional developmental tasks of transition, preparing the church to successfully receive and support its next installed pastor.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide regular preaching and worship leadership on Sunday mornings and special services (e.g. Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Christmas Eve)
Officiate at weddings, funerals, and administer sacraments as agreed with the session
Offer ongoing pastoral care to members and friends, including hospital and home visits, crisis care, and short-term counseling
Visit prospective members and provide crisis care to outsiders as feasible
Serve as Head of Staff, supervising church employees
Plan for and moderate session and congregational meetings
Provide organizational oversight for church operations in partnership with the session
Work collegially with session committees in program planning
Actively participate in the Presbytery of Baltimore and transfer membership to the Baltimore Presbytery
Lead the congregation in interim period developmental tasks,
Coming to terms with history
Assessing present and future identity
Empowering lay leadership
Facilitating links with the denomination
Facilitating commitment to a new installed pastor
Assist in the church’s self-study and preparation of the Church Information Form
Provide written quarterly reports to the session and COM
Facilitate open sharing of information with the congregation

Compensation and Benefits
Effective Salary: $92,110
Other Benefits:
Pension and Medical benefits: $25,330 (pastor only)
Spouse and/or family medical coverage considered as needed
7.65% SECA: $7,046
Professional development: $2.600
Total Compensation $127,086
Additional Benefits:
Study leave: 2 weeks/year
Vacation: 4 weeks/year
Family Medical Leave: 12 weeks
Optional additional Sundays off (negotiated)
Accrued vacation paid upon termination: subject to policy

Additional Notes
Must maintain professional boundaries with the Pastor Nominating Committee
Provide prayer and spiritual support to the congregation and leadership
Work within the accepted general framework of interim intentions and goals as set forth in denominational resources
Must abide by the Book of Order and Presbytery’s Sexual Misconduct Policy
Not eligible for consideration as a permanently installed pastor
