This is a 10-15 hour part time, salaried position.

Accountability

The Contemporary Worship Music Leader reports to, and is accountable to the Pastor for all aspects of this position description.  He/she may be called upon by the Chairperson of the Worship Committee to accomplish various tasks and/or to serve as a resource to the committee in matters relating to the job description.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. The Contemporary Worship Music Leader shall work with the Pastor to plan, coordinate and lead music which will support the contemporary service and nurture the congregation in its life under Christ.
  2. Plan, direct and train the praise band and singers, plan music for the contemporary services, and schedule and lead practices for the praise band and singers.
  3. Work with the volunteers that provide sound, projection/video, lighting and any other responsibilities needed for the contemporary services.
  4. Plan for and direct guest or back-up musicians and singers for the contemporary services.
  5. Lead and develop music for special worship services or special events as determined by the Pastor or the worship committee.
  6. Attend and participate in the Worship Committee.
  7. Submit to the church office, no later than 12 noon each Thursday, information about the music for Sunday’s contemporary service.
  8. Meet regularly with the Pastor
  9. Undertake periodic efforts to invite congregation members to participate in the contemporary service. Such efforts may be coordinated with the work of the Outreach Committee.
  10. Keep accurate records of all the music utilized (dates used, occasion etc.)
  11. Schedule and budget in conjunction with the worship committee for the annual budget proper maintenance of the church’s musical equipment used in the contemporary service.
  12. Create each playlist in Propresenter for each Sunday morning service (contemporary) so that it is ready for the volunteers to use on Sunday morning.

ANNUAL REVIEW

An annual review of the performance of the Contemporary Worship Music Leader shall be conducted by the Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, in consultation with the Worship and Personnel Committees.
