West Grove Presbyterian Church
Purpose: To recruit, direct, and coordinate the Choir Ministry for Church Worship Services in cooperation with the Pastor.
General Responsibilities: The Choir Director will:
- Provide meaningful, vibrant, and inspirational worship in cooperation with the Pastor, Organist, and Worship & Music Committee.
- Lead the adult choir in providing anthems or special music weekly for the Sunday Morning Worship service during the choir season (September through May) as well as Christmas Eve and other special services. Interest in developing a children’s music program is also valued.
- Coordinate rehearsal times, both regular and special, with the members of the choir and the choir accompanist.
- Provide or coordinate special music, vocal or instrumental, during the summer months.
- Select a balance of music that appeals to a wide range of age groups and reflects a variety of musical styles.
- Order music as needed according to the budget provided. All music shall be organized and catalogued.
- Work with other music leaders of the church and the pastor in planning music according to the church calendar.
- Have regular contact with the Worship and Music Committee either by attending the committee’s meetings or meeting with the Committee chair.
This is a year-round part-time position requiring 5-10 hours per week. The position reports to the head of staff and is reviewed annually by the pastor and the Session’s Human Resources Committee. Two (2) Sundays of paid personal leave are provided. Approved by Session on 5-27-26
