Basic Training for NEW & Experienced Ruling Elders
Rev. Jane DeFord & Ruling Elder Ellie Grove
The nominating committee called, you said 'yes,' and now you are officially a Ruling Elder in the PC(USA). Want to do this well? Let us help. Join us for a dynamic, interactive, and informative module of instruction that will insure that you are skilled and prepared to serve God in a brand new way!" This is primarily geared for the brand new Ruling Elder as well as those who have served for a while but want to sharpen up.
Training for Deacons
Ruling Elder Laura Sambrick
What does a Deacon do? Join Laura Sambrick to learn how about the call to be a Deacon. We will discuss the unique ways the “ministry of compassion” is demonstrated in our congregations. As a caring arm of the church, deacons can model service for their congregation and community.
Basic Training for NEW Clerks of Session
Rev. Dr. Michael Wilson, Sated Clerk
“Initial Clerk Training” This is for elders who are assuming clerk duties for the first time, elders who are "coming back to clerking" after a time away, and anyone who wants a refresher on the duties of a Clerk. Led by Rev. Dr. Michael Wilson (Stated Clerk), we'll go over the core roles of being a clerk and the resources available to clerks.
Training for EXPERIENCED Clerks of Session
Rev. Sarah Kneier & Elder Dianne Yuninger
“Ongoing Clerk Conversations” This is an opportunity to elders who have been clerks to explore topics of interest to clerks -- including questions about minutes, rolls, and registers, electronic meetings -- designed in collaboration with those who will attend. Led by Rev. Sarah Kneier (Assistant Stated Clerk) and Ruling Elder Dianne Yuninger (Recording Clerk), we'll delve deeper into what it means to be the "clerk."
Streamline Your Ministry and Maximize Your Mission
Rev. Dr. Erin Cox-Holmes, Executive Presbyter
“We just don’t have enough people! It’s always the same people doing everything!” Does that sound familiar in your church? If so, you have lots of good company. This workshop will look at ways to streamline how leadership happens at your church, make worship livelier, and get more engaged in mission locally and around the world. It’s a time for both pastors and leaders of congregations.
Coffee Talk: A Conversation for Educators, Christian Education Chair Folks, Sunday School Superintendents, etc.
Jill Reichert, Presbytery of Donegal POINT Representative
& Laurie Juarez, Director of Christian Ministry
Bring your coffee or tea and join us as we, together, find ways to support one another in the Faith Formation ministries of our churches. We have ideas to share about how we can be of mutual support, but we want to hear your ideas, too! Whether you are paid staff or volunteer, come join the conversation. What resources are already available? What do we need? What do YOU need? How can we help one another. Let's find out! Conversation facilitated by Jill Reichert (Donegal Presbytery's POINT Representative) and other educators in the presbytery. *Note: If you are unable to make this time together but would like to be connected with the group, please give your name, church and contact information to Chrissy at the presbytery office.
