What Will We Be Doing at this workshop?
The Presbytery of Donegal will be offering a Boundary Training workshop for Teaching Elders. Presbytery policy, the new PA Mandatory Reporting Laws as well as most insurances, require that this prevention training be current for all ministry professionals. Our commitment is to make this a day that will be helpful and lively for those of us in ministry. Most of us have encountered tricky situations; this will be the chance to process with colleagues.
The workshop will be led by David Miron, who is a pastoral counselor at the Samaritan Counseling Center in Lancaster, PA.
What Does the Training Day Include?
The boundary training and situational discussions will be in the morning led by David Miron, followed by lunch. From 1pm-3pm, we will be discussing Social Media, both best practices and what safeguards are absolutely essential. Even if social networking is not part of your world, we all need to understand our culture and how to minister within it. Also in the afternoon, Presbytery representatives will lead a section on what needs to be part of a Church Child Protection Policy and Sexual Misconduct Policy.
Boundary Training is mandatory ever 3 years in the Presbytery of Donegal for all Teaching Elders and compensated educators and youth workers. A specialized training for those who work primarily with children and youth will be scheduled in the near future as an alternative.
